Meet our Member Superstar Sandra L. Kutzing … Sandy has been a member of AWWA since 2007. She has been active in the Section since the word GO! Professionally, she is a licensed consulting professional engineer working at CDM Smith serving as a Principal Engineer and Project Manager.
Sandy’s commitment to the section can be seen in the number of committees in which she is actively volunteering her time and energy. She is the vice chair of the Technical Program Committee, a member of the Conference Committee and the Strategic Planning Committee … to name just a few. Plus, Sandy has chaired the Water For People Committee and continues to be an active member of the Committee helping to raise money for Water For People.
Because of her work and dedication to the Section and the industry, the Section has bestowed two prestigious awards upon her. She has been the Water For People – Kenneth J. Miller Founder’s Awardee twice, the first time in 2008 and the second time in 2011. In 2011 she was awarded the Next Generation Award.
In her spare time, Sandy volunteered as a professional mentor for the Rutgers chapter of Engineers Without Borders for 8 years mentoring engineering students (many of which are now Section members!) and helping to increase drinking water supply to a displaced community of 5,000 people in the mountains of Guatemala. Sandy has also been a Big Sister in the Big Brothers Big Sisters – Middlesex-Monmouth County organization for over 4 years.
When asked what legacy do she wants to leave behind, Sandy responded, “I want to inspire others to contribute their gifts and talents to society and truly listen and be open to people. We are all in this together.”
